Celebrating the Impact of Foundation House

Throughout January we would like to shine a spotlight on the incredible work that is being done by Foundation House, which the Jacka Foundation is proud to support.

Foundation House is a leading Australian organisation providing specialist services to survivors of torture and trauma. Since 1987, Foundation House has empowered over 55,000 individuals from refugee backgrounds, offering holistic care that addresses physical, emotional, and social wellbeing.

Through a range of programs—from direct client services to training, consultancy, and advocacy—Foundation House champions the health and human rights of some of our most vulnerable community members. Their comprehensive approach ensures survivors can rebuild their lives with dignity and resilience.

We are honoured to fund projects like an evaluation of their Complementary Therapies program, integrating natural medicine, including herbal and nutritional care, alongside traditional health services. This support strengthens not only individuals but entire communities, fostering hope and healing.

Last year, Foundation House team members presented at the FASSTT National Conference, showcasing how traditional medicine, herbal remedies, and cultural practices profoundly support refugee trauma recovery. Their work fosters healing, connection, and resilience in vulnerable communities.

We’re honoured to stand beside Foundation House as they continue their life-changing work.
